WS 1080 Versus Uniden 436: Simulcast Distortion

I've heard rumor that Whistler added hardware to improve decoding or something like that. I cannot recall where I read this. First, I am wondering if the W1080 handles linear simulcast distortion better than the former GRE PSR 800. Then, I would like to know how the W1080 and Uniden 436 work on said system when all variables of reception are held constant.
