ws1080 slow picking up transmission

I have a ws1080 and old uniden bearcat 245xlt next to each other both locked on to the same talk group. The uniden picks up a transmission first with the ws1080 having about a 1 to 2 second lag behind it so I am missing 1 to 2 seconds of talking on some transmissions I wont get at all if they are quick .Is there a sensitivity setting I am not seeing on the ws1080 ?? Also the squelches are adjusted to where the noise just goes away I don't have them turned up all the way .
