In Southern colorado, most but not all of the services that I want to monitor are on P25, the Colorado DTRS. That would be fire, law enforcement, snow, and emergency management (I am in several amateur radio public services.) I want to be able to quickly turn on and off the particular services needed, e.g. snow just now but not fire!
Suppose I set up a system called Fire, QK 0. Under it would be the nearby P25 sites, with the same QK, and the groups (some conventional) with individual GQKs. Then I'd have another system Snow, QK1, with the same sites (each QK1) but different groups. If QK 1 was enabled, and QK 0 disabled for scanning, would the scanner give me only snow services even though fire departments are using the same sites?
I understand that duplicating the site information will consume memory, but there seems to be plenty of that. In short, would this scheme work, or is there a more elegant or simpler way to do the same thing? Thanks for any advice.
