Ordered a HP-1 which hasn't arrived yet.
Would like to get a bit of a heads-up before it comes regarding the battery.
Have read their on-line documentation, but still confused over this.
a. If, after loading the Sentinel software, and doing the initial setups, I remove the batteries to be safe, and also as it will always be AC plugged in, exactly what happens ?
I do not plan on doing any Recording. Is this the "only" capability I would lose ?
What else will I not have ? etc.?
What do you folks do regarding leaving the batteries always in place ?
b. How big a problem is it really to do the re-charging in the unit.
Undoubtedly safer with an outside the unit Charger, but has the history of this gadget (quite a few years by now) shown it to be a "meaningful problem ?
c. With the AC Charger Un-Plugged, will the unit operate as a typical Handheld Scanner ?
For how long, typically ? All the functions ?
d. Re the supplied 4 batteries, which apparently are Chinese.
O.K. to use them do you think, or should I run out to R/S and get some "better quality" brand ?
If so, which ?
Any other questions I should probably be asking, caveats, or gotchas on anything re Unit ?
