Normally I don't charge the batteries in my radio (usually have about three to four sets that I rotate between the scanner, the charger, and one or two sets in the "bullpen") so I haven't encountered this problem before. However tonight, I am on the road with just one set of batteries (silly me, I know), that need to be charged before morning, so I decided to take a chance and do the in-radio charge. Looks like I'm not going to be able to do that however. Here's the problem I seem to be running into....
I've been using the USB cord to power the radio from my computer for a few hours; no problems there. When I turn the scanner off and after it writes to the SD card, I get the 'battery charge Y/N' message so I press E/Yes and it then shows 'normal charging'....for about half a second. After it flashes that on the screen, the radio cycles back to the 'batter charge Y/N' message. Every time I hit Yes, it does the same thing over and over again. However, when I answer 'No,' it displays the 'charge off' message and the radio does not cycle thru the options again and again. It remains 'charge off.'
Just wondering if anyone else has had a problem along these lines, and if so, how it was solved.
I supposed if worse comes to worse, I can always run into Walgreen's or WalMart in the morning, but I'd rather use the batteries I have.
Any comments / tips / suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
