So right now, I'm using my Kenwood TK-862G base unit as a scanner to listen into my local school bus frequencies.
It's working great, with exception to one problem that's driving me nuts. I have some unwanted noise coming through on one of the frequencies. It's sounds like a "spitting" sound. It comes through very often (although not always) about every 30 seconds and it sounds for about 5 seconds. If I touch the antenna, the sound stops. The radio only does it on this frequency. The sound does not come through my Uniden scanner, and it's also not transmitted over the TK-8180s in the buses, only my radio. Chatter does override the sound.
I've tried reprogramming the frequency and reconnecting the antenna but with no luck. I'd like to have the radio up loud everyday, but every 30 seconds I get blasted with the sound and I have to turn it down.
The sound can be heard at the 9:06 point in one of my videos:

Thanks!
