Hum/Buzz in audio feed

I just started a feed from my house and have noticed there's a baseline hum to the audio which when there's voice traffic isn't an issue but can be a bit annoying. I've heard this hum on feeds I listened to in the past before becoming a provider, but am unsure what's causing it.



I'm broadcasting from a uniden home patrol 1 and it seems I can lower the hum by lowering the level on the "line in" properties on my PC, but didn't know if this might be a result of a poor audio cable or if there's a certain amount of volume from the scanner as well as a certain amount of level gain on the PC side that's optimum for reducing this. Any advice is appreciated,
