Vertex vx-2200 reverse burst issue (squelch tail elimination)

I have a question for anyone who thinks they can help. I have a vertex vx-2200 mobile 50 watt radio. I have the options for disabling squelch tail elimination, delayed squelch tail elimination, 120 degree elimination, and 180 degree elimination. I have used all of those settings. I have the choice with those eliminations of fast or slow squelch close. When I use fast squelch close, I get a pop when the receiver closes. When I use slow, I get squelch crash. The best setting I have found is 180 degrees with a fast receiver close. Even using 180 degrees with a fast close, I still get a pop on the receiver.

Now hear is the hard question...I have a vertex vx451 ht. I have the option of 180 or 120 degree squelch tail elimination. I use 180 degrees. I went for a walk all over today, and on my ht I heard no squelch tail crash whatsoever. How come I can hear no crash while mobile with my ht, but with my mobile I get crash on the squelch tail?

Any answers are suggestions are appreciated.
