XPR 3500 Noob question

Hello RR community, so at my job we are given this radio and are responsible for responding to alarms. The alarms go off on "Channel 1" on the radio, and I know this because everyday at 11:45 am a test tone goes out to make sure your radio is working. I have done 0 configuring of this radio, I literally pulled it out of the box and put it together. However every night when I go to bed and put the radio on the charger sometimes the green LED light on the radio starts to blink for a few minutes and eventually quits blinking. It never blinks if the radio is not on the charger unless an alarm goes off. There is 0 audio coming out of the radio when it does this (I put my ear against the speaker and there isn't even a bit of static). I was just wondering if I will still hear the alarms if one goes off during that time. If anyone could shed some light on this it would be great, thank you.
