Is it just me .. or is there anyone else that cares about radio id's ?
It is almost like they are just kinda shoved it in as a thing on the bottom of the list.
I have to admit that the Uniden 436HP is almost impressive in this way.
It shows them on audio playback .. and that is HUGE for me.
The display of this information on the Uniden is really good and does a better job of it then the GRE / Whistler models as it catches the ID virtually 100% of the time. But the Uniden436HP overall sucked, and was a terrible design.
The BIG thing for me is the ability to see the radio id information on the scanner on audio playback. (please Whistler add this .. though I will undoubtedly be buying the 1095 anyways) and even a 1080 if you would think about this feature.
I sold my Uniden 436HP cause 2 good features (the above and replay / recall feature) on an otherwise average scanner goes not make it great. The GRE PSR800/Whistler 1080 and upcoming 1095 are way better scanners in my mind, particularly the user interface. That is far far superior than the Uniden and why I sold it.
To me performance is only half the battle .. a bad user interface and poorly designed scanner over all can turn a otherwise good scanner into a dog. That is what makes the GRE / Whistler scanners so great .. they are well designed.
So .. how about it ? GRE was the first manufacturer to do RadioID's .. time to up the game and it would be nice for Whistler to add the radio id's in particular in the audio play back.
Is it just me .. but it is a major pain to have to pull the sd card out to see the radio id info all the time. I know .. it displays on the scanner during the transmission but I am not watching the screen 100% of the time.
Especially seeing as how my PSR800 seems not be able to keep the time accurate at all .. last I checked it was 4 min out even though it was just set yesterday. Like anyone else see this ? Mine is plugged into the USB 24/7 and always sits on my desk and records.
That is why I would like to see the radio id maybe alternate with the date and time on audio playback as the time is not accurate anyways. (and maybe the ability to adjust the time between the alternations like the radio id does now).
Just me thinking here ...
