PRO-651 modes

Is the FMN mode the current narrow band mode i.e 2.5kHz deviation ? Next question, in AUTO is the mode determined by the programmed frequency or is there some fancy DSP that can determine the actual mode and demodulate accordingly? I occasionally like to listen to VHF mil air and frequencies in the 138 MHz- 144MHz and 148MHz-150MHz range may be either AM or FM. Also in AUTO are the public service and business frequencies set to NFM if it is by frequency since the change has only been mandatory for a couple years ?
