Wellbrook LA5030-2

Received my new Wellbrook LA5030-2 that I ordered a couple of weeks ago. I live in a single story apartment & was tired of throwing a wire up in the tree in front of my apartment, lol! While the wire worked pretty well, it was a pain in the *** to throw it up there and have to pull it down at night before I went to bed. I got the indoor version & when I unboxed it yesterday and set it up in my spare bedroom/listening post I really wasn't that impressed with it. I've got a par-efl strung up around the wall in here and the Wellbrook wasn't really that much better. I was able to turn it slightly to somewhat null out some static on a few stations but nothing too dramatic. I decided to try it outside the front of my apartment later and man does this thing work well!! I have a 3 gallon plastic bucket that I put a 2 foot long piece of pvc pipe in and some cement for another antenna experiment about a year ago. The Wellbrook comes with a short piece of aluminum tubing to be able to mount it to a pole, so I just slipped it into the pvc that's in the bucket and set it out in front of my apartment. After putting it outside, I was able to receive the 160 meter band quite well plus the pirate station X-FM on 6940 am. All in all I'm thoroughly impressed with this antenna and don't regret spending the money for it. I'm using it with my commradio cr -1 & have an old frg -7 that I bought off of eBay coming in the mail which I can't wait to play with!
