You probably need to be an old timer to answer this one.
Many years ago tow boat companies had a regular net usually on the 4 Mz
marine band where they would have a roll call two times a day a get reports
from each captain as to their location, barge delivery status, and other important
info. Think they were on the Ohio and Mississippi rivers.
There was a tow company in Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Cincinnati who
did this on SSB. Was very interesting.. I've lost contact with many operations
on HF. This dates back to 1965-1970 era. Anyone hear anything like this
in recent times ?
