I live in Eastern North Carolina and I am listening to the VIPER System. I recently purchased 2 Pro 197 radios and have them programmed similar to my 2 Pro 106 scanners. I find the 197's are not as effective as my 106's with reference to receiving VIPER communications. They do received but not as much as the 106's. Has anyone else experienced similar results and do you have any programming tips. I have programmed both manually and with enclosed program, all control and alternate control channels are entered for the near towers. Antennas are equal on all. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.
