I'm curious as to what the difference is between a Mobile Computer Terminal (MCT), a Mobile Data Computer (MDC) and a Mobile Data Terminal (MDT) as installed in public safety vehicles?
I also see that MDT's are sometimes called Mobile Dispatch Terminals.
Is it that terminals must be connected to a central computer to work, but computers can be stand-alone units, and therefore have greater capabilities? Then what's the difference between an MCT and an MDT?
Locally, I have heard Phoenix FD dispatchers use the term PDT (Personal Data Terminal?) in addition to MDC or MDT. Would these be a PDA/tablet-sized version to the laptop-sized MCT/MDC/MDT?
