Kenwood tk-3101 Programing help,

hi i have a kenwood tk-3101 and KPG-48D software and trying to program it to GMRS im using dosbox on windows vista. and using a USB programing cable. well i got the program runing in Dosbox but when i read data to radio i get an error message i set the com port to 1 and com port 2 does the samething so i dont know if it has to do with the programing cable or what so if any of you experienced the samething please shed some light on this.
