Ford Police Interceptor Question

I have a question about Ford Police Interceptor middle consoles. I never have understood how it is that the installers get a middle console between the two front seats. I would think that they would have to completely tear out at least one of the seats and replace it with a new one just to get the center console (to put all the radios, lights, sirens, etc) in there. But I don't know how they do it and I'm curious. I am not considering working on a Ford Crown Vic Police Interceptor I am just curious.
